Distinct Heritage ... Inspired Location ...
We are justifiably proud of our junior section at NORTH OXFORD Golf Club, we were the founder member of Oxon Junior Golf League.
Juniors can join from any age and remain in the section up to their eighteenth birthday. Currently the section has a majority of boys with just a handful of girls but we are hopeful of more girls joining in the coming years.
Most new juniors join without having a handicap, and the club in association with the Professional shop and the EGU provide free lessons at assisted rates for members. Boys start at 36, and girls at 45 handicaps.
Throughout the year our juniors participate in the Oxfordshire Junior Golf League, for home and away matches each season. In addition, there are a variety of 'internal' fixtures, including competitions with other sections of the club where they are very successful. At least four ex juniors are now professionals.
We have dedicated Junior Organisers who administer, promote and encourage junior golf at NORTH OXFORD Golf Club.
Children in golf
Children in Golf (CIG) is a Partnership of Governing Bodies and Organisations of Golf throughout Great Britain and Ireland. Together each organisation has committed to work in partnership to ensure that the sport of golf is one within which children and young people involved can have fun in a safe environment.
We are affiliated to the English Golf Union (EGU), English Ladies Golf Union (ELGU), Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire (BB&O) and Oxfordshire County Ladies Golf Association (OCLGA) which means we have in principle adopted the National Policy and Procedures laid down.
Full details are contained within a resource pack entitled 'Children in Golf', we hold two copies, which are available at the Club. A copy of the resource pack is also available for viewing on www.childreningolf.org.uk
